Trump to hold event at Washington's Reflecting Pool before Election Day

President Donald Trump plans to hold an event Monday afternoon at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., on the day before Election Day.

Trump told reporters he wanted to show off the site, whose renovation has been part of his broader focus on changes to Washington. His administration announced plans in April to resurface the pool and paint it blue at his request.

Images later showed the water turning green, and pieces of peeling paint appeared in the pool. Trump alleged without evidence that the site had been vandalized. The Justice Department subsequently acknowledged in a court filing that faulty installation by the contractor was responsible, after five people were arrested for vandalism.

On Sunday, Trump campaigned in Iowa and Kansas, with his final campaign stop in Salina, Kansas. More than 54 million Americans had already voted early ahead of the Tuesday, Nov. 3 election, according to the University of Florida Voting Lab.
