Michigan Senate candidate Mike Rogers, a Republican, said on Wednesday that the United States should end its trade war with Canada, a dispute the account described as fostered by the Trump administration, as he campaigns against Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan.
Rogers said, “Here in Michigan, we know that Canada is not our enemy,” while calling to end the tariffs.
The appeal came weeks after Rogers called for an end to the war with Iran, marking another break with the Trump administration.
