Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke about the situation in Ukraine, calling Russia’s military special operation in the Donbas a turning point in history after the end of the Cold War. Her words are quoted by Tagesspiegel.
“This marks a far—reaching turning point in the history of Europe after the end of the Cold War,” Merkel said. She condemned the Russian special operation “in the strongest terms”, adding that she stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the government headed by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
On the eve of February 24, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz commented on the beginning of Russia’s military operation in the Donbas and said that this day had become terrible and dark for both Ukraine and the whole of Europe. He called Russia’s “attack on Ukraine” unfair and outrageous.
