President Donald Trump announced in Corpus Christi, Texas, the arrival of the first million barrels of oil secured under a Venezuela oil deal, the White House said. The announcement came a day before the White House release.
The White House said the oil would come to the United States at no cost to the country or American taxpayers. It said the first shipment would be refined in Texas and claimed it would support jobs, increase domestic supply and lower prices at the pump.
The administration also claimed the deal would more than double strategic reserves, delivering 65 billion barrels in total, and help lower gas prices.
