President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order, described as led by First Lady Melania Trump, to expand research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care for women and girls across life stages.
The order directs the health secretary, acting through the National Institutes of Health director, to create a Women’s Health Division within an appropriate institute or center within 90 days. It also establishes a White House Women’s Health Task Force co-chaired by the health secretary and the assistant to the president and chief of staff, with members including the NIH director, the food and drugs commissioner and the CDC director.
The White House said the order rescinds initiatives of the prior administration to move beyond research and emphasize translating findings into improved clinical care. The administration said additional study is needed on conditions including cardiovascular and heart disease, cancer, stroke, Alzheimer’s Disease, endometriosis, fibroids, infertility, maternal health and menopause.
The fact sheet also listed earlier health actions. It said the Food and Drug Administration in November 2025 began removing broad “black box” warnings on menopause hormone therapy products. It said TrumpRx.gov, launched in February 2026, has saved patients over $700 million on medicines, and that Moms.gov was launched in May 2026 to support new and expecting mothers.
